Anton Brezinka

Biography.

Anton Brezinka, born on 25 January 1998, is a German-Austrian conductor. He comes from a family of musicians, is a trained pianist and violist and gained a lot of experience as an orchestral musician as a teenager.

In October 2023, he completed his studies in orchestral conducting (Prof. J. Wildner) at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. He also studies as an opera répétiteur with Prof. A. Henning. Brezinka is an experienced vocal coach and has been invited to be part of the Opera Studio of the Vienna State Opera as a volunteer répétiteur from the 2021 season. He has worked as a conductor and répétiteur at numerous theatres, including the Teatr Wielki in Łódź, the Oper Burg Gars, the Schlosstheater Schönbrunn and the Neue Oper Wien. Brezinka has conducted orchestras in Austria, Germany, Poland, Russia, Ukraine and the US. He has also taken part in masterclasses with Marin Alsop, Helmut Deutsch and Robert Spano. In summer 2024, he was part of the Aspen Conducting Academy at the renowned Aspen Music Festival. Brezinka is a prizewinner of the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben. In 2022, he was also a scholarship holder of the Richard Wagner Society Vienna.

Since the middle of the 2023/2024 season, he has been engaged as a répétiteur with conducting duties at the Theater Krefeld and Mönchengladbach. Brezinka is particularly interested in audience engagement. Since the 2024/2025 season, he has been giving musical introductions from the piano before selected performances, which are very popular.
